DO I HAVE TO MAKE A VISIT TO MY GP ?

Although it is still possible to make a claim even if you have not been to see your GP, if you have suffered injuries, no matter how minor, it is still worth visiting your GP unless you have recovered fully or are still receiving treatment under the care of a hospital, as your visit and the nature and severity of your injuries will be recorded in your medical records, which (along with any Hospital Records) will ultimately be used as evidence in support of your claim.
It is extremely important to remember that it is not in your interests to settle a claim too early if you have not fully recovered, as claims are settled on a “once and for all” basis – i.e. you cannot have a “second bite of the cherry” in order to seek more compensation either if you do not recover as anticipated or even if your medical condition deteriorates in a manner which was not anticipated at the time of your claim being settled.
