Not Guilty :Not guilty is a final verdict given at the end of a court case that states that the individual has not committed the offences that he or she are charged with. This acquittal prevents the individual from being prosecuted for the exact same crime in the future.

Not proven :
Not proven is a verdict given in Scottish Courts which establishes that the prosecution have not provided enough substantial proof to convict the individual of a crime, but that there remains considerable doubt regarding the offender's innocence. Anyone given a verdict of not proven has been acquitted just the same as someone who receives a not guilty verdict.
